Rosa-Maria + Tarek {Engagement and a little family}

I have had the chance to photograph Rosa many times. We met years ago through car related things and I sold her a designer dog collar from the company I had at the time. It all started with her first Maternity session, then her baby Alexis and family photos. I cannot express how important this lady is to me. I have watched her change and grow througout the years. When she told me about her new “Love” a few years ago, I was so happy for her.  I could tell by the sound of her voice that she really had found the right guy to share her life with.  As a proper love story should have it, they knew eachother at a young age, and by chance, found their way together again. Sometimes, just what you are looking for, is right there in your back yard. Tarek is also in the Canadian Forces and they have had their fair share of time apart over the past while, while he serves our country overseas. (Thank you Tarek)  I am so happy for my friend, Tarek, their girls and family. And so glad they have chosen me to be there, especially during this special time in their life. Your wedding will be nothing short of amazing, I just know it:)

 Since Rosa and Tarek travelled from Quebec for their shoot, we figured we would fit in a family session too:)How cute are their girls?!

Sarah + Nick {A mother’s day gift and life’s little insights}

It was 11am and a perfectly overcast morning for photos. Sarah and Nick came over for a few quick photos infront of the willow tree in our yard as a gift for Nick’s mother Rosemarie. I just LOVE willow trees and I refuse to let Marc cut it down, even though he says, I quote “It looks like death“. I, on the other hand think it’s gorgeous and makes for a really pretty backdrop for photos! We only had a few minutes, but we did get some cute poses in:).  These two are so crazy cute together !

I am so fortunate to be able to do what I LOVE as a business full time for the past few years. To be able to create photographs that document the people I meet and the connections they share together, it really is priceless. When I meet others, who do not have the same luxury in their life, I feel for them. I sure know what life is like behind a desk, feeling as though life has been stripped from your days. If you think back to when you were a child, you likely had HUGE dreams. For me, it sure changed a few times, but always related back to something creative, and included my love for animals. I wanted to be a veterinarian, then a pilot, an artist, an architect, a photographer, an interior designer, and so many other things. I never allowed myself to stop dreaming. I always knew things would work out, someway, somehow, and I would live the life I dreamed of. If I wasn’t happy with how things were going, all I had to do was make a change, and things would start going down a different path. And you know what?… it always did. I feel lucky to have this outlook on life. The sad reality is, eventually, most people forget what it’s like to dream. Day to day turns into year to year, and you wonder what happened with your life. People always think, “If I could change one thing.. I would have… “. Most people don’t realize that they can change anything, in an instant and tomorrow does not exist in past tense. Your life is YOURS and you can create what you want, and around what is important to you.

I met Nick a few months ago now. And for that, I will be forever grateful. We met at a coffee shop and he presented an international business he is expanding in the Maritimes to me. I was blown away by the simplicity of it and the possibilities this business can provide anyone who gets involved. Most of all, to create a positive impact on our economy and the families in it. I knew, right then, Marc and I had to be part of this. It was much bigger than just us. I truely believe there are no coincidences in life. The people that you meet, the places you go, it all has a direct connection to where your life will take you.

The one thing I have learned in my many years in business is the most expensive thing you can own is a closed mind based on the knowledge you have gained from other people:)Do your OWN life, your way and you will be happy! Thank you, Nick, for reminding me of this. And I look forward to the next few years ahead!

Michelle, Tim and their little family

I think the most amazing part of my world is that I get to see people grow. As friends, as couples and as families. This family is certainly special to me. Considering I have watched them grow from just their super cute dog Daisy, to the three gorgeous children they have now.

When we arrived at our shoot, Amelia grabbed my hand to walk down the trail. It was a bit of an incline, so I picked her up and carried her down. I couldn’t believe how tall she had grown over the past few years. When our shoot was done, she asked me to pick her up again – which just about melted my heart! What a sweetheart. Franklin and Thor are just little heartbreakers in the making for sure.

Michelle and Tim, I am so proud of you as parents. You have grown such a beautiful little family. And, the fact that you managed to color coordinate super cute little outfits for all five of you is amazing! Most of all, thank you for allowing me to get to know your family, and capturing little bits along the way. I really do appreciate it, more than you can know:)

Very special family.

Mexico 2012

Marc and I took a week away from life here in Canada to enjoy the warm winds, gorgeous beaches and all that the Mayan Riviera has to offer. We spent time together, with great friends and had many adventures in paradise. It was our second time returning to the same place, the Gran Bahia Principe Resort. We spent the same week there last year to celebrate and photograph the wedding of our clients Charlee + Jamie. We loved it so much we decided to return again with them this year!
Thank you to Jamie for taking a few of our photos for us! We love them! (perhaps you should consider a new profession:)

We were so lucky to be celebrating their 1 year anniversary with them. Of course we wanted to give them a gift of a shoot in the exact same location they were married at. Such a beautiful couple, inside and out:)

Boston, J* and Girltalk at THE FIX.

As a professional and business person, I think it’s important to keep re-investing in yourself. Life is about learning, and enhancing every part of your being, be it personal or professional. When I heard that the lovely Jasmine Star { www.jasmine-star.com } was coming to Boston in March, I knew I HAD to be there. We quickly gathered 3 talented Maritime photographers and we made our way to Boston. The event was called “THE FIX”. Jasmine has been someone I’ve always looked up to in the industry and have loved watching her grow and evolve her business in just a few short years. I attended the event, because it was not just a workshop about how she takes photos, but a seminar about the business aspect of photography, which is what I wanted most.

I absolutely LOVED the event, it was amazing with some great insight and inspirational moments to apply in the future. What impressed me most about Jasmine and JD, were their transparency, and approachable personalities. It was refreshing to meet someone so incredible within the industry, yet so wonderful at heart. I also think that an event is only as great as the people you are with, and boy, did I sure choose a fab group of women to travel with:)Thank you Jill, Shannon, and Carla. Our ride home was fun to say the least! What was supposed to be quick search for a half decent breakfast location turned into the scariest dive I’ve ever seen LOL. None of us got out of the car but we have a great laugh. The drive home took all day (somehow besides a few sidetracks here and there) but was full of laughs and insightful conversation. Thank you ladies for sharing the trip with me!

And, thank you Jasmine for coming to Boston and sharing a little piece of your world with us!
